This paper was jointly completed by Dr. Zhang Hongru and Professor Yang Yang from Temple University in the United States, focusing on the impact of the new coronavirus outbreak on the tourism industry. The large-scale outbreak of the new coronavirus has greatly harmed China's tourism industry. From January to February this year, the occupancy rate in the Chinese hotel market fell by 71% year-on-year. In this article, the author proposes and calibrates a dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) model to understand the impact of infectious disease outbreaks on tourism. By applying this model to the case of the new coronavirus pandemic, this research represents a pioneering study to assess the impact of the coronavirus on the tourism industry.
